Finish times at this pace
How to work out your running pace
- Choose what to calculate: pace, time or distance.
- Pick a race or type a distance, then type the time as h:mm:ss or mm:ss, or the pace as min:s per km or per mile.
- Read the result, your pace per km and per mile, your speed, and the finish times for common distances at that pace.
Frequently asked questions
How is pace calculated?
Pace is time divided by distance. 10 km in 50 minutes is 50 ÷ 10 = 5 minutes per kilometer, which is 8:03 per mile and 12 km/h.
How do I turn pace per km into pace per mile?
Multiply by 1.609344, the number of kilometers in a mile. 5:00 per km is 5 × 1.609344 = 8.05 minutes, or 8:03 per mile. Divide to go the other way.
Are the finish times a race prediction?
They are the times for each distance at exactly the same pace: 5:00 per km gives a 1:45:29 half marathon and a 3:30:59 marathon. Most runners slow down over longer races, so expect a longer race to take more than the table shows from a short race pace.
