Which age is official in Korea?
Since 28 June 2023, laws and official documents use the international age (man-nai), counted in completed years from birth.
What is the counting age?
The traditional Korean age: you are 1 at birth and gain a year every 1 January. It is the current year minus the birth year, plus one.
Where is the year age still used?
Some laws, such as those on military service and on selling alcohol and tobacco to young people, count the current year minus the birth year.
