How do you add fractions?

Put them over a common denominator, add the numerators, then simplify: 3/4 + 2/5 = 15/20 + 8/20 = 23/20, or 1 3/20.

How do you divide fractions?

Multiply by the reciprocal: 3/4 ÷ 2/5 = 3/4 × 5/2 = 15/8.

How is the answer simplified?

The numerator and denominator are divided by their greatest common divisor, and a negative sign is moved to the top.
