Weighted Average Calculator

How to calculate a weighted average

  1. Enter each value with its weight, one pair per line, such as a grade and the credits it is worth.
  2. The weighted average appears with the total weight.
  3. The table shows what share of the weight each entry carries and how much it contributes to the result.

Frequently asked questions

What is the formula?

Weighted average = Σ(value × weight) ÷ Σweight. Grades of 88, 92, 76 and 85 worth 20, 30, 15 and 35 give 8,635 ÷ 100 = 86.35.

Do the weights have to add up to 100?

No. They are divided by their total, so credits, hours, percentages or any other units work.

Are my numbers sent anywhere?

No. Everything is worked out in your browser and nothing is stored or uploaded.
