How to flip or mirror an image

1. Click the box above or drop your image onto it.
2. Click Flip horizontal to mirror it left to right, or Flip vertical to turn it upside down. Click again to undo.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my selfies mirrored?

Many phones and webcams show the front camera like a mirror, and some apps save the photo that way, so text in the picture reads backwards. Flip horizontal puts it the right way round.

Is flipping the same as rotating 180 degrees?

No. Rotating 180 degrees turns the picture upside down and also swaps left and right. Flipping vertically only turns it upside down, as if seen in a mirror below it.

Does flipping lower the quality?

Flipping moves pixels without changing them. The image is saved again in its format, so a JPG is re-encoded at high quality, which is not visible in practice.
