What is EXIF data?

Information cameras and phones store inside a photo: the date, camera model, settings and often the exact GPS location where it was taken.

Why remove it?

A photo shared with its GPS data can reveal where you live or work. Some sites strip it, but many messaging apps, email and file shares do not.

Does removing it reduce quality?

Not for most JPGs and PNGs: the metadata is cut out without re-encoding the image. JPGs that rely on a rotation tag, and WebP files, are saved again at high quality so they still display the right way up.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser, so your files never leave your device and nothing is stored on a server.
