How to compress a video

- Choose how strongly to compress, or choose Target size and type the size in MB you need, such as 10 for Discord or 25 for email. A lower resolution makes the file much smaller.

How long does it take?
Videos are compressed on your own device, so it depends on its speed and the length of the video. Expect about as long as the video itself for 720p on a recent computer, and longer on phones or for 1080p and above.
Which settings should I use?
Medium keeps a good picture at a much smaller size. For a strict limit, use Target size: the quality is set so the file comes out just under it. Lowering the resolution to 720p helps most for phone videos.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. The first use downloads the converter (about 30 MB); your file never leaves your device.
