How to test your mouse

1. Click inside the box with each button: left, middle (press the wheel), right, and the side buttons if your mouse has them.
2. Scroll the wheel up and down inside the box. Each counter goes up once per step.
3. Click a few times at a normal pace. If Unwanted double-clicks goes up, a button is registering one press as two.

Frequently asked questions

How does it spot a mouse that double-clicks by itself?

A worn switch bounces and sends two presses a few milliseconds apart, far faster than anyone can click. Two presses of the same button within 80 ms are counted as unwanted double-clicks.

The side buttons are not counted.

Some mice send their side buttons as keyboard shortcuts, or only after their own software is installed. Those do not reach the page as mouse buttons.

Does it work with a trackpad?

Yes. Taps and clicks count as left clicks, two-finger clicks as right clicks, and two-finger scrolling moves the scroll counters.
