How to test your microphone
- Click Start test and allow the browser to use your microphone.
- Speak or tap the microphone. The bar and the wave move with the sound, and a message confirms that your microphone is working.
- Click Record 5 seconds to hear yourself played back. If you have several microphones, pick one from the list.
Frequently asked questions
The bar does not move. What should I check?
Make sure the right microphone is chosen in the list, that it is not muted with a switch on the headset or cable, and that no other app, such as a video call, is using it. On Windows, also check Settings → Privacy → Microphone; on a Mac, System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
I blocked access by mistake.
Click the camera or lock icon in the address bar, allow the microphone for this site, and reload the page.
Is my voice recorded or uploaded?
No. The sound is only analysed in your browser. The 5-second clip is kept in the page until you leave it and is never sent anywhere.
