Frequently asked questions
What resolution are the images?
The resolution they were saved at inside the PDF, which is often larger than they appear on the page. The pixel size is shown next to each one.
Why did it find nothing?
Not everything that looks like a picture is one. Charts, logos and diagrams are often vector drawings, which have no image to pull out. In that case use PDF to PNG to save the pages themselves.
Why is a photo saved as a PNG?
Images stored as JPEG inside the PDF come out as JPG, untouched. Images stored uncompressed or with Flate compression are written as PNG, which keeps every pixel.
Why are some images skipped?
A few PDFs use JPEG 2000, CCITT fax or JBIG2 compression, which this tool does not decode. The count of skipped images is shown so you know they were there.
Why is one image split into strips?
Some programs save a scan as a series of narrow bands. They come out as separate files in page order, and can be joined back together in any image editor.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens inside your browser, so your files never leave your device and nothing is stored on a server.
