Frequently asked questions

How are words counted?

A word is any run of characters between spaces or line breaks, the same as in the word counter. Characters are counted with spaces, and again without them.

Why is no text found?

Scanned documents are pictures of pages, not text. They need OCR (text recognition), which this tool does not do.

Are headers, footers and footnotes counted?

Yes. Every piece of text on a page is counted, including headers, footers, page numbers and footnotes.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser, so your files never leave your device and nothing is stored on a server.
