Cell Seeding Calculator
How to calculate cell seeding volume
- Choose the plate or flask, or Other to type its growth area, and type how many wells or flasks to seed.
- Type the seeding density in cells per cm² and the concentration of your cell suspension from a cell count.
- The volume of cell suspension appears, with the medium to add, the cells per well and the total cells.
Frequently asked questions
What growth areas are used?
Typical values: 0.32 cm² for a 96-well plate, 0.95 for 48, 1.9 for 24, 3.8 for 12 and 9.5 for 6 wells; 25, 75 and 175 cm² for T25, T75 and T175 flasks. Areas vary a little between makers, so choose Other to type the exact one from your plate's data sheet.
How do I mix it?
Mix the cell suspension volume shown into the medium to add, then split the mix evenly across the wells or flasks. Making about 10% extra allows for pipetting losses.
