1. Pick a style: two words like SwiftFalcon, a word and a number like Raven482, or both. Add your own word, such as your name or a hobby, to mix it in.
2. Choose a separator, capitals and a maximum length; many sites allow 15 to 30 characters. The list changes each time you change a setting.

They are made at random in your browser, so the page cannot tell whether a site already has one. Try it on the site you are signing up for; if it is taken, add a number or press New names.

Why are the words in English?

Most sites and games only accept the letters a to z, digits and a few symbols in usernames, so the words are short English ones that work everywhere. Your own word can be in any language, but check that the site accepts it.

Should my username include my real name or birth year?

For privacy it is safer not to. A number such as a birth year helps others guess your age, and your real name links the account to you.
