How to split a list into teams
- Paste your names, one per line.
- Choose either the number of teams or the number of people per team.
- Click Draw teams for a new random split, and Copy teams to copy the result.
Frequently asked questions
How are the teams drawn?
The list is shuffled with the browser's cryptographic random numbers, then dealt out one name at a time, so every arrangement is equally likely and the order you typed the names in makes no difference.
What happens when it does not divide evenly?
The extra people are spread across the teams, so 10 names in 3 teams gives 4, 3 and 3 rather than 4, 4 and 2.
Can I keep certain people apart?
Not directly. Draw again until you get a split you are happy with, or hold back a few names and add them to teams by hand.
Are the names sent anywhere?
No. The text is processed inside your browser and is never sent anywhere.
