ORF Finder
How to find open reading frames
- Paste a DNA sequence, as plain text or FASTA.
- Choose the frames to search, which start codons count, the minimum length and the genetic code.
- Each open reading frame is listed as a FASTA record with its frame, position and length, as DNA or protein.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as an open reading frame?
A stretch from a start codon to the next stop codon in the same frame. With Any codon, a frame is open from any codon after a stop.
How do I read the frame numbers?
+1, +2 and +3 are the frames of the sequence as pasted; -1, -2 and -3 are the frames of its reverse complement.
Is my sequence uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your sequences never leave your device.
