Protein GRAVY
How to calculate the GRAVY of a protein
- Paste one or more protein sequences, as plain text or FASTA.
- The GRAVY score appears for each sequence.
- Set the window for the profile to see the average hydropathy along the sequence, position by position.
Frequently asked questions
What does the GRAVY score mean?
It is the average Kyte-Doolittle hydropathy of all residues. Positive values mean a hydrophobic protein, negative values a hydrophilic one.
What window should I use?
Around 9 for surface regions, and 19 to 21 to look for membrane-spanning helices.
Is my sequence uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your sequences never leave your device.
