How to Remove the Background From a Photo

Remove it automatically

1. Open Remove Background.
2. Choose Transparent, or a color to put behind the subject, such as white for a product photo.
3. Drop in your photo. The first time, the AI model downloads once; after that each photo takes a few seconds.
4. Download the PNG (transparent) or JPG (colored background).

The model runs in your browser, so the photo is never uploaded.

Photos that give the cleanest result

• One clear subject, in focus, filling a good part of the frame.
• A background that differs in color or brightness from the subject.
• Even light, without the subject blending into shadows.

Fine hair, fur, glass and see-through fabric are the hardest parts for any background remover. Check the edges at full size before using the result.

White backgrounds for online shops

Many marketplaces ask for product photos on pure white. Choose White before dropping in the photos, then use Resize Image if the shop needs a set size, such as 1000 × 1000 pixels.

Keeping the file small

Transparent PNGs of photos are large. If the image is going on a web page, Compress PNG usually makes it much smaller while keeping the transparency.
