Range Extractor
How to extract ranges from a DNA or protein sequence
- Choose DNA or protein under Sequence type, then paste the sequence, as plain text or FASTA.
- Type the ranges you want, such as 10..50, 80..120, separated by commas or spaces. Positions start at 1.
- Choose whether to join the ranges, list each separately, or show the whole sequence with the ranges in uppercase.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get the reverse complement of a range?
Write it backwards: 50..10 gives the reverse complement of bases 10 to 50.
Are both ends of a range included?
Yes. 10..50 gives positions 10 to 50, which is 41 residues. A single number such as 25 extracts one residue.
Is my sequence uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your sequences never leave your device.
