- Choose a resolution: 150 DPI for screens, 300 DPI for printing.
- Drop in the PDF. Every page becomes an image; download them one by one or as a ZIP.
JPG or PNG?
JPG makes smaller files and suits pages that are mostly photos. PNG keeps text and line drawings perfectly sharp, so it is better for documents, diagrams and screenshots of forms.
Which resolution?
A US Letter page at 150 DPI is 1275 × 1650 pixels, which is sharp on a phone or laptop. At 300 DPI it is 2550 × 3300 pixels, which is what printers expect but makes files about four times larger.
On a Mac: Preview
Open the PDF in Preview, select the page in the sidebar, choose File → Export, set Format to JPEG and pick a resolution. Preview exports one page at a time, so a browser tool is quicker for long documents.
Only need a few pages?
Remove the pages you do not need first with Remove PDF Pages, then convert what is left.
