What Is My User Agent
How to check a user agent
- The box shows your own browser's user agent as soon as the page opens, with the browser, engine, operating system and device type read from it.
- Paste any other user agent string, from a server log for example, to read it the same way. Use mine puts yours back.
- Press Copy to copy the string, for a bug report or a support request.
Frequently asked questions
What is a user agent?
A line of text every browser sends with each request, naming the browser, its version, its engine and the operating system, such as Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/130.0.0.0 Safari/537.36.
Why does it say Windows 10 / 11 or an old macOS version?
Browsers froze those parts of the string: Windows 11 still reports Windows NT 10.0, and Safari and Chrome on a Mac report 10.15.7. Where your browser offers it, the page also asks it for the real version and shows that under the results.
Why does Chrome on an iPhone say WebKit?
Every browser on iOS has had to use Apple's WebKit engine, so Chrome, Firefox and Edge on an iPhone all draw pages with WebKit and say so.
