Grams to Moles Calculator

How to convert grams to moles

  1. Type the formula, such as NaCl or C6H12O6, or a molar mass in g/mol.
  2. Choose grams to moles or moles to grams, and enter the amount.
  3. The result appears with the molar mass and the number of molecules or formula units.

Frequently asked questions

What is the formula?

Moles = mass ÷ molar mass, and mass = moles × molar mass. 10 g of NaCl (58.44 g/mol) is 0.171 mol.

How is the molar mass found?

From the formula: the atomic weight of each element times the number of its atoms, added up. Hydrates such as CuSO4·5H2O and brackets such as Ca(OH)2 are understood.
