Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an estimate and a quote?

An estimate is a best guess that can change once the work starts; a quote is a fixed price for the work described. Choose Quote under Document for a fixed price.

How long should an estimate be valid?

Often 30 days, so that changes in material prices do not catch you out. Set the date under Valid until.

Can I turn the estimate into an invoice?

Yes. When the job is done, change Document to Invoice on the same page, update the number and dates, and print it again; everything else stays filled in.
